SEWEN Wiki uses SQL Compact embedded database, but you can configure it to use "standard" SQL Server.

Create database

You need to create database structure and fill it with data. You can either create the default database, containing some demonstration data and users, or create empty database, where no data are present, just the bare structure.

SEWEN Wiki uses database to store both wiki content and users, passwords and roles. You can use different databases for these purposes or use single database for both.
  1. Start by creating empty database.
  2. To create default wiki pages, run SewenPageStore.default.sql batch, to create empty database, run SewenPageStore.empty.sql.
  3. To create default users and roles, run AccountService.default.sql batch, to create empty database, run AccountService.empty.sql.

The following users are created if you use the default database script:

User name Password Role Comment
administrator password administrators
user password disabled

Configure SEWEN Wiki to use this database

Open the web.config file and find the connectionStrings element within. There are two connection strings defined, one for page store and one for user accounts. Set the providerName attribute to System.Data.SqlClient and connectionString to connection string to your database. For example:
<connectionStrings>
    <add name="SewenPageStoreDB"
         connectionString="SERVER=.\SqlExpress;TRUSTED_CONNECTION=yes;DATABASE=SewenWiki"
         providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />
    <add name="AccountServiceDB"
         connectionString="SERVER=.\SqlExpress;TRUSTED_CONNECTION=yes;DATABASE=SewenWiki"
         providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />
</connectionStrings>
